Employees Ashleigh and Stuart have recently been supporting WILLIAM HOWARD SCHOOL (AN ACADEMY) LIMITED through their Leading Change initiative, delivered in partnership with the Centre for Leadership Performance Cumbria. 🌱✨

Leading Change brings local employers and schools together to help students develop leadership, communication and problem-solving skills by designing projects linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout the programme, teams develop ideas, pitch them to an industry panel, and then move into a full implementation phase.

Following last week’s pitch event, two Year 9 teams were awarded a total of £500 in funding and are now progressing their sustainability projects, including:

♻️ Turning recycled wastepaper into sustainable paper logs
🌿 Designing a living wall to promote biodiversity

Building on these ideas, the wider groups also intend to:
🪶 Create bird feeders from reused plastic bottles
🎨 Transform bottle lids into a colourful school mural
🛏️ Use leftover shredded paper for animal bedding
🧤 Collect crisp packets to turn into insulating blankets for the homeless

The students’ creativity, teamwork and passion for positive change continue to impress every week. They now have until the end of January to bring these initiatives to life. 💡🌍
