🌟 Staff Spotlight: Liam Miller 🌟

Almost three years ago, Liam joined our Precision Machining workshop as a Workshop Assistant, coming from a background in retail warehousing. From day one, he impressed us with his dedication and curiosity, taking every opportunity to learn from his colleagues on the shop floor.

Recognising his potential, his manager, Gary Strick introduced him to the intricacies of Machining. With a hands-on approach and a thirst for knowledge, Liam quickly picked up new skills and became an integral part of the team. His hard work and passion have paid off—he’s now well on his way to becoming a fully qualified Machining Technician, with glowing feedback from his tutors about his attitude towards learning. Even more impressively, he balances his academic commitments on his off-shift days, showing incredible dedication.

Recently, Liam showcased his growing expertise by machining a profile using a 4th Axis and Fusion 360 offline programming software – his own method and idea of how to start. This part was originally planned as two welded components, but the team saw an opportunity for Liam to take on the challenge of machining it in one part. His innovative approach not only provided a great learning experience but also saved on welding and NDE – a brilliant example of problem-solving and efficiency.

Liam’s journey is a testament to the power of curiosity, hard work, and the supportive environment we strive to create at Bendalls.

🗣️ Liam said:
“Before joining Bendalls, I worked in a completely different environment in retail – I never would have thought that just a couple of years later, I’d be training to become a qualified Machinist.

Since starting here, I’ve gained plenty of skills in engineering, from interpreting drawings and operating milling machines and lathes to 3D modelling and component assembly. I’ve also earned additional qualifications like FLT, MEWP, and Health and Safety Executive training.

What I love about Bendalls is that they constantly push me to develop my skills to the best they can be. I always feel like an integral part of the team in every project I’m involved in.”

👏 Well done, Liam! We’re excited to see where your future in engineering takes you!
